Relaxation techniques that address relief for all of the muscles in the body are extremely beneficial. Your body has been so consistently tense that it believes that is the way it is supposed to feel. The exact opposite is true. Once your body becomes acclimated to being relaxed, it will tell you when to do something for it. This is part of the reason that developing habits for self-care is important. To really give your body the relief it requires before it tells you.
This exercise will teach you how to relax from head to toe. This technique requires you to use your imagination and visioning faculties. Flow with the sound of my voice and let your imagination do the work. Encourage your body to loosen and relax. Be in a reclined position as you listen to this recording, which will help facilitate the relaxation process. But listening and doing this exercise while sitting works well too.

I am probably sounding like a broken record, but you taking back your power is important to me. Taking care of yourself is the most important thing you can do for yourself. If you find yourself hesitant to do something for yourself, the following is an Affirmation that will help change your resonance or way of thinking about self-care for stress management.
Start with your arms extended out to the side at the height of your shoulders. As you speak the Affirmation, bring the arms slowly in until your hands are palm to palm in front of your heart. This declaration helps you to align your intellect with your heart for balance.
I hear my body calling for me to help it relieve some of the stress it feels. I answer the call of my body for self-care by taking time set-aside just for me. By allowing my body to heal and rejuvenate, I am honoring the Divine in me.
Take a deep cleansing breath and feel the results of what you have just acknowledged, accepted and are taking action to do.
