A Season for Growth and Healing
Spring cleaning isn’t just for our homes and yards and gardens. It’s for us as well. It’s a human-wired urge from our hunter gatherer days. Spring represented the chance to come out of hibernation and meant the promise of a new season and coming harvest.
Lots of reasons to celebrate and throw open the windows and doors and let a little fresh air energize us. Those living in cold weather climates may feel this more acutely, but the beginning of spring brings the desire to clean and tidy and start something new for everyone no matter the zip code.
For many, the thought of doing any of those things may feel like a great idea in theory, but overwhelming in practice. You may already have a schedule that’s wearing you down and too many responsibilities to worry about the energy that comes with a new season.
If that’s you, I am sorry that you are in that place, but I want you to know that embracing the energy of spring is going to help you the most!
Animals and plants understand that they must allocate their resources to last through the winter and into spring. We are part of nature too. Longer days and warmer temperatures affect our bodies, our moods and our energy.
This spring make time for thinking intentionally about your life. Are there past choices and decisions that no longer serve you? Do you find yourself committed to things that just don’t fit? This really is the time to clean things up! Establish new commitments, sweep away what isn’t working and take a leap of faith into your desired new direction.
As we move from one season to the next, we are also reminded of the passage of time. There really is no someday!
If you know you need to make changes, the perfect moment or right time isn’t going to magically appear. You and I both know that. But you can decide that for you, the time is right for and someday has arrived.
Embrace the promise of new beginnings. You deserve it.
