6 Ways To Reduce Stress At Work

  • By wps_team
  • In Blog, Exercise, Healthy Boundaries

It is no surprise that work can be extremely stressful at times. This is a problem because work consumes so much of our life. We constantly worry about responsibilities that need to be done, fulfilling deadlines and dealing with other co-workers. Another troublesome complication is that we, as women can get so into our image that this can be damaging to our overall health. More than half of women claim that they are highly stressed.

An overwhelming, yet false idea that women have is that if they are not stressed enough, then they are not succeeding. Stress can be compared to being alive to some women. Never-ending stress can reduce cortisol production, which can lead to reduced short and long-term memory. In addition, our society and culture hammers women to be as successful as men.

Stress is a large reason why individuals visit their doctor’s office, as well. When we stress, our immune system suffers and this causes us to eat more, smoke more, and drink more alcohol to cope. Strangely enough, stress can sometimes benefit us. For example, stress can give us the urge to complete enjoyable projects and can jog our mind to remember something important. For the most part, stress is negative and needs to be cut down significantly in peoples’ lives.

What can we do to reduce our stress levels so we can live a more enjoyable, prospering and healthy life?

  • Get plenty of rest
  • Exercise regularly
  • Eat healthier
  • Drink more water
  • Designated quiet time
  • Set healthy boundaries
